Washington DC starts 1st phase of e-bus orders
In the USA, Washington DC’s Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has just ordered five 40-foot electric buses from Nova Bus and five from New Flyer. The purchase is part of the WMATA plan to fully decarbonise its bus fleets by 2042.

New Flyer to supply electric bendy buses for the new Madison BRT
Madison, the capital of the US state of Wisconsin, is procuring 46 electric buses from New Flyer. The Xcelsior Charge NG are articulated since they measure 60 feet (about 18 metres), and the US government has funded the order as part of a more extensive rapid transit system.

BAE Systems takes orders for 340 hybrid drive systems
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) has selected BAE Systems to supply up to 340 hybrid electric drive systems for its new fleet of low emission transit buses. BAE Systems will provide 220 electric drive systems to New Flyer of America, with an option for 120 additional systems, over the next three years.

New Jersey to be graced with 8 New Flyer e-buses with options for more
In the USA, New Flyer bus manufacturer has received an order from the New Jersey Transit Corporation (NJ Transit) for eight all-electric Xcelsior Charge NG forty-foot heavy-duty transit buses. The two companies have agreed on options to purchase up to 75 more battery-electric buses under a five-year contract.

New Flyer wins two bus supply contracts in the USA
New Flyer has been tasked with delivering their electric Xcelsior Charge heavy duty buses to the state of Connecticut as well as the city of Atlanta. A total of 12 fully-electric, 40-foot buses were ordered by Connecticut’s DoT, while six buses are headed to Atlanta.

New Flyer bus batteries to be used for recycling pilot project
New Flyer has completed a pilot project with Li-Cycle to recycle batteries from electric buses. The bus manufacturer supplied Li-Cycle with 45 end-of-life battery modules, which were converted into so-called black mass to recover materials such as nickel and cobalt.
