Fraunhofer tests 18-tonne electric truck with PV panels
The electric truck with integrated solar system that Fraunhofer ISE has developed with industrial partners has received road approval. Road tests will now show whether the installed photovoltaic (PV) modules can actually cover the targeted five to ten per cent of the truck’s energy demand.

ÜSTRA factory recycles old eCitaro batteries
The partners of the GUW+ model project are dedicated to the re-use of batteries from electric city buses and will now realise a stationary energy storage system in a rectifier substation of the ÜSTRA based on batteries that were previously used in eCitaro city buses.

Project eHaul examines robot battery-swapping for trucks
In a three-year project called eHaul, a German consortium of business and science is dedicated to developing an automated battery-swapping station for heavy electric trucks. Among others, the TU Berlin, the Fraunhofer IVI and Bosch are involved in the project.

Go4City: Fraunhofer & ELO Mobility to develop H2 buses
The Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems IVI and Berlin-based ELO Mobility have teamed up developing next-gen hydrogen-powered buses. They just launched the Go4City project with funding through the German government.

Photovoltaic research project on electric utility vehicles
In the ‘Lade PV’ charging project, four industrial companies and two Fraunhofer Institutes aim to demonstrate the marketability of photovoltaic applications in freight transport. They also want to convert an electric truck into a demonstration vehicle.
