City of Houston buys nearly 100 new electric vehicles

The City Council of Houston, Texas, has approved purchasing 97 battery electric vehicles. The new EVs will replace ICE vehicles ageing out of the official fleet. The Houston Climate Action Plan aims to convert all non-emergency, light-duty municipal vehicles to electric by 2030.

Ride-hailing company Uber is expanding its Uber Green service with electric and hybrid cars in North America. After launching in 15 cities last September, Uber has announced plans to make the service available in 1,400 more cities and towns.

Feds exempt autonomous delivery pod R2 by Nuro

Founded by former Google engineers, the US start-up Nuro is to make goods delivery autonomous and electric. They now launched the next-gen pod, R2, and say they can start testing in Houston within weeks. Regulators have approved a driverless exemption for this purpose.
