The London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) is to lay off 70 temporary employees, according to information from the BBC. Reasons were not given, but it is likely that Brexit has played a role.

LEVC delays new electric van

The London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) is postponing the launch of its planned new electric delivery van. The new vehicle should have come out at the end of 2019, but will only be “ready for the market at the beginning of the 2020s”. LEVC already published a first photo of the EV in May 2018.

Paris grants permission for launch of LEVC’s black cab

Geely-owned London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) will bring its electric taxi with range extender to Paris. A permit for the black cab has now been granted by the Paris authorities. The French capital is expected to receive the model called TX in the first half of 2019.

Beige electric cabs by LEVC kick-off in Germany

A bit of Britain has come to Germany today as LEVC launches their range extended cab in the country. The TX will cost just short of 60,000 euros and LEVC chairman Carl-Peter Forster believes the taxi will soon make it on “many significant markets” worldwide.

Geely-owned LEVC that make the electrified London black cabs may soon have a rival right at their base in Coventry. The Chinese conglomerate Red Sun Group has reached out to Britain’s Ecotive and CAD CAM Automotive (CCA) to start building hybrid taxis in the UK as well.

LEVC-300x150LTC embarks on electric future: London’s electric taxi has been unveiled in its final design today and the Geely-owned subsidiary used the occasion for a revamp of the brand. Now dubbed LEVC (for London EV Company, formerly London Taxi Company), the firm hopes to extend its range beyond the British border and has found one new customer already. Dutch RMC put a pre-order over 225 so-called TX cabs in. Plus, the order books for the UK will open on August, 1. Nora Manthey was at the launch and spoke to LEVC’s CEO Chris Gubbey and Mike Hedges of Unite union of taxi drivers. In summary, LECV and London face three challenges: growth, competition, and charging infrastructure.

First EV made in Mexico: Mexicana Motores Limpios presents the first locally made EV. The compact Zacua’s range is about 160 km. 200 units shall roll off the lines in 2018, before capacity shall increase slightly to 300 by 2019. In the next 4 years, MML intends to launch 4 more models and to export, too.
