Siemens to set up hydrogen centre in Görlitz

Two years ago, the Siemens plant in Görlitz, Germany, was on the verge of collapse. Now Siemens, the State of Saxony and the Fraunhofer Institute have signed a declaration of intent to strengthen the site in the long term and support structural change in the region.

London: Ubitricity to add 200 streetlamp EV chargers

Berlin: BVG orders 15 Solaris buses

The Berlin-based public transport operator BVG is entering the next phase of electric bus procurement and ordered fully electric articulated buses for the first time. After the BVG Supervisory Board recently approved the award of the contract and the objection period has expired, Solaris has now been awarded the contract.

Norway: Siemens opens battery factory for ships

Siemens has opened an “advanced robotized and digitized” battery module factory in Trondheim, where 55 battery modules will be assembled per shift for  marine and offshore markets. The factory comprises a line with eight robot stations and a capacity of up to 300 MWh per year.

Italy to construct e-highway on section of A35

Following in the footsteps of Sweden and Germany, Italy will now also convert a section of their roads to a so-called e-highway with overhead cables for electrified trucks. They will also be testing the hybrid truck from Scania with overhead current collectors on the stretch of the A35.

In future Valeo will be solely responsible for the Valeo Siemens eAutomotive joint venture that they had founded together with Siemens back in 2016. Valeo’s main man in Germany, Derrick Zechmair, confirmed an end to the JV, saying they had planned the exit along.

eHighway pilot under construction on the Autobahn

Works have started on one of three eHighway projects in Germany. Led by Siemens, the track along the A1 motorway will enable hybrid trucks to charge while in motion via overhead wire. The pilot set to start in mid-2019 will receive power from renewable energy sources.

Siemens HPC chargers for electric buses in Denmark

Siemens has signed an agreement with Denmark’s largest public transportation operator, Movia, for the delivery of fast-charging stations with pantograph for electric buses. 45 communities stand to benefit from the contract and is one of Siemens biggest eBus orders ever.

Carris to order 15 e-buses for Lisbon public transport

The public transport company Carris from the Portuguese capital Lisbon has put out an open order for 15 electric buses and their charging infrastructure. Up to 11.7 million euro are being offered, and bids are being accepted until the 16th of May.
