Electric bendy buses arrive in Barcelona

You could call these electric buses a “streetcar of desire” given they look pretty, are articulated, 18 metres long and look like a tram. The four buses made by Irizar have arrived in Barcelona and will serve on route H16 starting this month.

What makes these electric buses even more tram-like is the charging via pantograph. Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) had placed the order with Irizar in August 2017.

Now, Irizar delivered the electric bendy buses with a slight delay but they are ready to take up service. The 18-metre buses will begin operating from December on the H16 line (from Pg. Zona Franca – Fòrum / Campus Besòs) and will join the two 12-metre long electric buses that have been operating in the city since 2014.
