UFODrive adds London and Berlin to Tesla rental service

The electric car rental company UFODrive is expanding into further cities. The Tesla Model 3 and Model S are now available for rent at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin and at three London locations.

With these new locations, the company is now active in a total of twelve European cities. The entire rental is purely app-based. The electric vehicles are picked up and returned at fixed stations.

Anyone in Berlin who wants to rent an electric car for a day can now do so at Potsdamer Platz in the “Mall of Berlin” multi-story car park. The company has entered into a partnership with APCOA for this purpose. The Tesla Model 3 is now available in the parking garage for 99 euros and the Model S for 149 euros per day. The price always includes comprehensive insurance policy and three additional drivers.

Interestingly, the vehicles do not need to be fully charged before delivery. A partnership with Innogy allows for this operating feature. The wall boxes installed in the “Mall of Berlin” can be used to intelligently control the charging process of the Tesla chargers. According to the company, UFODrive does not use the public charging infrastructure to recharge the vehicles for the next customer at the end of the rental period.

During the rental period, the customer can recharge the electric car free of charge at the Tesla Superchargers. Alternatively, a charging card is stored in the glove compartment. The supported charging points can be found via the rental app. These can also be used free of charge.

In London, UFODrive will initially start with three locations (Park Lane/Marble Arch, Oxford Circus and Westfield). In order to be able to offer the vehicles at fixed stations here as well, a partnership was entered into with Q-Park, among others. For the Tesla Model 3 a price of 109 pounds per day is called here.

With the two new cities of Berlin and London, the expansion for electric car rental is not yet complete. Most recent additions include Ireland and the Netherlands, again in cooperation with Q-Park. The service first launched at Luxembourg Airport, locations in Brussels, Hamburg and Cologne Airports as well as in Dublin followed as reported.
