Peugeot reveals the 308 SW in two PHEV versions

Following the new Peugeot 308, the French manufacturer is now also presenting the 308 SW station wagon version with plug-in hybrid versions. Peugeot has announced the market launch of the new Peugeot 308 SW for early 2022. Prices have not yet been mentioned.

Like the five-door sedan, the new station wagon will roll out as Hybrid 180 and Hybrid 225 with the namesake around 180 and 225 hp system output (132 and 165 kW, respectively), each of which will have an 81 kW electric motor and be equipped with a 12.4 kWh battery for an electric range of around 60 kilometres. They differ primarily in terms of the combustion engine, which produces 110 and 133 kW respectively.

The 308 SW can be charged via a rear left charging socket using the standard 3.7 kW onboard charger in 3:50 hours or the 7.4 kW onboard charger (available at extra cost) in 1:45 hours. Peugeot quotes the charging time at a household socket as a good seven hours. There is no optional DC charging option.

The estate version of the 308 s is 21 centimetres longer than the sedan. The wheelbase alone is 5.5 centimetres longer at 2.73 meters. The trunk capacity of the PHEV versions is between 548 and 1,574 litres. The rear seat backrests can be folded down in a 40:20:40 ratio. All the storage areas in the interior together hold another 29 litres.

In the interior, the French company is relying on the further development of the familiar i-cockpit. Starting with the ‘Active Pack’ equipment line, the 308 SW has a ten-inch driver display instead of classic instruments. A ten-inch touchscreen on the centre console is part of the standard equipment, positioned slightly lower than the instrument cluster to be easier to reach.

The station wagon is also expected to get some assistance systems similar to the sedan, such as a ‘Drive-Assist 2.0’ package that offers adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go function (in conjunction with the EAT8 automatic transmission) and lane departure warning, as well as three new functions on lanes with separate lanes.

The new Peugeot 308 SW will be manufactured in Mulhouse. The order books have not yet been opened. The Stellantis brand also does not want to announce prices until a later date. Peugeot has not yet said whether there will also be a purely electric version of the station wagon.
