EnBW offers Ionity discount until September

With its ‘Summer Special’, EnBW is offering discounted charging at Ionity charging points in other European countries. Until 15 September 2025, users of the ‘EnBW mobility+’ app or charging card will pay a uniform €0.59/kWh in 14 countries, regardless of the tariff selected. In Germany, however, the rate will remain at €0.74 per kilowatt hour.

The reduced price has been in place at Ionity’s fast-charging stations since 7 July. The promotion is due to end on 15 September this year. The 14 European countries include Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, Croatia, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and the Czech Republic.

In order to receive the discounted unit price of €0.59 per kilowatt hour, a paid subscription with EnBW is not required. All you need to do is register via the ‘EnBW mobility+’ app. With the EnBW app or the associated charging card, customers on all charging tariffs – S, M and L – pay the reduced price at Ionity. Electricity and gas customers of EnBW as well as customers of partner tariffs will also automatically receive the reduced price during the promotional period.

In addition to private customers, the ‘Summer Special’ also applies to all business customers, regardless of whether they are on the Business S, M or L or the Business Professional S, M or L tariff, as EnBW reports.

Despite the EnBW promotion in the 14 countries mentioned, it may be worth taking a closer look at the pricing in comparison to the respective ad hoc tariffs and Ionity’s own offers. Two examples illustrate this: In France, Ionity charges €0.59 per kilowatt hour for ad hoc charging. Via the Ionity app, the price without a basic fee is 0.55 euros/kWh. In the tariff with a monthly basic fee of €5.99, the price drops to €0.39/kWh, and in the highest tariff of €11.99/month, the price even drops to €0.33/kWh. So if you use the Ionity app, you pay less even without a subscription. Charging via Ionity in Italy, on the other hand, is significantly more expensive: there, the prices per kilowatt hour are between €0.14 and €0.30 higher than in France, depending on the tariff. Here again, the EnBW tariff is worthwhile.

In Germany, EnBW customers will continue to pay €0.74 per kilowatt hour at Ionity fast-charging stations. Ionity raised the ad-hoc price to €0.75/kWh at the end of May, which means that charging via the EnBW app is still slightly cheaper. However, anyone using Ionity’s own app currently pays just €0.70 per kilowatt hour, and therefore less than via EnBW.

Incidentally, the energy company is not alone with such a campaign. A few weeks ago, Allego introduced the ‘Summer Pass 2025’. Until 30 September, users pay a monthly basic fee and receive a 30% discount on the local ad hoc price at the company’s more than 5,000 fast-charging points throughout Europe, as well as selected charging points in the partner network.
