DHL Supply Chain opens 20th Centre of Excellence for Electric Vehicles
The DHL Group has played a pivotal role in advancing electric mobility behind the scenes. For some time, its contract logistics division, DHL Supply Chain, has been delivering tailored solutions for automotive and battery manufacturers, as well as suppliers.
In Senec, Slovakia, DHL Supply Chain has now opened its 20th global Centre of Excellence for Electric Vehicles. Spanning 26,000 square metres, the facility provides comprehensive logistics solutions for lithium-ion batteries, electric vehicle components, and the broader electromobility ecosystem.
“At DHL, we are thrilled to unveil the first EV Centre of Excellence in Central Europe. This initiative demonstrates our dedication to sustainable logistics solutions for the electric vehicles sector. The centre offers an extensive range of services and solutions, acting as a single destination for our customers to find all they require, while leveraging the expertise and experience of our team,” said Tibor Micuch, Business Unit Director, DHL Supply Chain Slovakia.
The site in Senec covers the entire logistics chain for electric vehicles—from inbound and outbound logistics to value-added warehouse services such as battery testing and charging, as well as comprehensive aftermarket support. The facility also includes specialised areas with controlled temperature and humidity, separate zones for general and hazardous goods, and services tailored specifically to two-wheelers.
“Our aim is to lead the way in advancing the electric vehicle market in the region. Backed by our global network, we provide solutions that enhance aftermarket efficiency and promote the growth of e-mobility in Slovakia and beyond,” added David Šmerda, Business Development Manager, DHL Supply Chain Slovakia.
In May 2024, DHL opened its first EV Centre of Excellence on the European mainland in Pozzuolo Martesana (near Milan), following an earlier facility in the UK. DHL now also lists sites in Germany and France in Europe. Additionally, such centres of excellence are operational in China, Singapore, and Indonesia, as well as in Australia, the USA, Mexico, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.
