Pepper Motion converts Actros semis and Skoda buses
The German commercial vehicle conversion company Pepper Motion has announced that the electrified Mercedes-Benz Actros MP5 will be available in series production quality from 2023. The company has also concluded an important agreement in Eastern Europe with Skoda Group to convert diesel buses to electric.
Prague orders 20 e-buses from Solaris & Skoda Electric
The Prague transport operator DPP has ordered 20 double-articulated trolleybuses from the consortium of Solaris Bus & Coach, Solaris Czech and Škoda Electric. The Solaris Trollino 24s are to be delivered within the next two years and will be used in the Czech capital.
Budapest orders 48 e-buses from Solaris & Skoda
A consortium consisting of Solaris Bus & Coach and Skoda Electric has received an order for 48 battery-electric trolleybuses from Budapest. The current order of 12- and 18-metre buses goes back to a framework agreement from 2014, which has now been completely fulfilled with the order.
Skoda Transportation & Temsa debut E’City trolley bus
Skoda Transportation Group presented its new E’City trolleybus at the CzechBus show in Prague. The all-electric bus can carry 69 passengers, 28 seated, and builds on chassis from Skoda’s Turkish partner Temsa. Their first customer is the Prague City Transport Authority (DPP).
Prague orders 14 ebuses from Skoda Electric
Skoda Electric has received an order for fourteen new electric buses from Prague Public Transport. This is the first delivery of e-buses to be carried out by Škoda in cooperation with its Turkish sister company Temsa.
Skoda and Iveco debut electric trolleybus
Skoda Electric has tested a new electric trolleybus model in Plzeň, Czech Republic. The 18 metre bendy bus is made in cooperation with Iveco that lent its bus chassis made in France. The electrics come from Skoda Electric.

Light and airy: Researcher at the Graz University (Austria) and University of St. Andrews (UK) have found a way to increase the efficiency as well as capacity of lithium-air batteries. By using titanium carbine as electrodes instead of carbon, and light weight oxygen instead of heavy ionic structures, researcher say, storage capacity could be increased tenfold.
Rotary range extender: Mazda has revived its Wankel rotary engine, giving it a purpose in a new context. The rotary now serves as range extender in a Mazda2 EV prototype, adding an extra 200 kilometres (125 miles) to the battery pack.
New connection? NXP Semiconductors and Datang Telecom have established a joint venture for the development and marketing of semiconductor solutions for electric and hybrid vehicles in China. It is the first of its kind company in the country. Chinese authorities have yet to give the business a green light.
Skoda Electric plans e-busses: The Czech manufacturer takes to the streets with two electric busses. The first model was introduced in September and has a range of 150 kilometres (93 miles). Charging takes place at the depot overnight. The second e-bus, due in 2014, is said to have a range of 30 km (19 m) and can be recharged quickly at bus stops and terminals.
