Electric Hummer by Kreisel Electric: Arnold Schwarzenegger has presented a fully electrified Hummer that has been developed by Austrian company Kreisel Electric based on the model H1. Golf 8 without all-electric version: The next-gen VW Golf will hit the stores in about two years, but according to Jürgen Stackmann, head of VW sales and marketing, it will be available either with combustion engine, either in PHEV version. China to relax rules for foreign carmakers? The Chinese government considers permitting foreign manufacturers to produce EVs in its free-trade zones without a local JV partner, reports Bloomberg referring to sources that do not want to be named. Thus, international carmakers could start to set up wholly owned EV businesses. The relaxation could come as soon as next year, but is still far from being definitively approved.

Gogoro surpassed 13,000 orders for its second-gen electric scooter as of the end of June with the order books being open only since May, 25 in Taiwan. These are record numbers given that last year, Gogoro sold 13,000 electric scooters in total and the company righteously expect sales to double this year.

Gogoro spices up electric scooter: The manufacturer has presented an update of its electric scooter which is part of the sharing scheme Coup. The free-float service is available in Berlin and reportedly about to be applied in Paris. The Gogoro 2 comes with 6.4 kWh swappable battery just as the original, but shall allow smoother torque and more control. Its launch is scheduled for July in Taiwan before it will enter other countries by late 2017.

Cleaning China: Beijing is about to exchange 45 percent of its fleet of sanitation vehicles with electric ones. Already by the end of this year, 791 specially made vehicles by BYD will be sweeping the streets or collecting garbage. By the end of next year, the Chinese capital is to be cleaned by a fully electric fleet consisting of various models.

South Australia to go green: The states plans a push for electrification as it seeks to switch 30 percent of its fleet to plug-in vehicles. In numbers that is to grow the electrified fleet from 161 to 2,000 units over the next three years. South Australia’s capital Adelaide aspires to become a carbon neutral city.

Gogoro expands: Another 100 charging stations for the rental electric scooters shall be installed at businesses in Taiwan. Gogoro says it sold more than 10,000 electric two-wheelers and set up 225 battery swapping stops in six Taiwanese cities.

India’s first electric motorcycle comes from Tork Motorcycles. The T6X said range is above 100 km with a top speed of 95 kph. Before its launch in Pune, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad in 2017, Tork is to set up a 100 charging stations in each city.

Chinese charging offensive: State-owned utility State Grid has issued a tender for the installation of 6,600 EV charging stations by the end of the year. The company is ready to invest 650m yuan in 2016 alone (9.3m dollars).

Slow delivery: The first 20 of 417 BYD K7 electric buses have been delivered to the Chinese city of Chengde. The order had been placed almost one year ago.

Bid deal: Wrightspeed, the start-up belonging to Tesla co-founder Ian Wight, has landed its biggest order to date. It will deliver its heavy-duty range-extended electric powertrain retrofitting technology to New Zealand’s urban bus operator NZ. The deal is worth 30m dollars.

Charging from down below: Dutch company Streetplug has developed a clever charging system for electric vehicles that can be embedded in the ground. It is currently being tested in Venlo should become available from October for 2.600 euros.

BYD for DHL: In Chinese Shenzhen, DHL uses 35 electric vans by BYD for its package deliveries. The T3 with its 200 km range is the start of a “strategic cooperation” between the two firms. Meanwhile BYD has readied two more electric delivery vans, the T5 and T7, that both offer more room for load.

Kandi Electric gets deal in Nanjing: The EV maker, a joint venture between Kandi and Geely, is to deliver more than 3,000 K17 EVs to the Chinese city. They were ordered by battery manufacturer Nanjing Bustil. The first 500 vehicles will be delivered before the end of the year.

Battery swapping and a Slushy: Gogoro opened its first battery swapping station next to a 7-eleven convenient store in Taiwan. The scooter manufacturer already has 96 of the so-called GoStations that offer 24-hour battery swapping in Taipei, New Taipei and Taoyuan. But these are mostly located at gas stations.

New Nissans for NHS: The Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has added 13 Nissan e-NV200 to its fleet. The electric vans will i.e. be used for collections and deliveries of health supplies are said to reduce transportation cost by 80 percent. The deployment follows a recent trial.

Gogoro update: As expected, the manufacturer will start to deliver its electric smart scooter in Taiwan from July 25 for 128,000 Taiwan dollars (4,140 USD).
