Foxconn begins building battery plant in Taiwan
Taiwanese contract manufacturer Foxconn has started building its first battery factory. The plant, located in Taiwan’s second-largest city Kaohsiung, is scheduled to start producing LFP cells with a planned capacity of 1.27 GWh in the first quarter of 2024.
Foxconn + Gogoro & partners to electrify Indonesia
Foxconn has reached an agreement with the Indonesian Ministry of Investment, the electric scooter manufacturer Gogoro and other partners to create an ecosystem around e-mobility in Indonesia. However, the system is to encompass much more than the exchangeable batteries for Gogoro scooters.
Foxconn presents their own BEV lineup
Taiwanese contract manufacturer Foxconn has unveiled three prototype electric vehicles it developed itself. The Model C SUV, Model E sedan and Model T city bus all run under the Foxtron brand.
Foxconn buys Lordstown plant & signs manufacturing partnership
Foxconn will buy the car plant of the electric car start-up Lordstown Motors in Lordstown in the US state of Ohio. This is provided for in an agreement in principle that has now been concluded between the two sides. Foxconn will then take over the production of the electric pickup truck Endurance for Lordstown Motors.
Nidec aims for EV joint venture with Foxconn
Foxconn and Nidec have launched talks to set up a joint venture in Taiwan next year to accelerate electric vehicle motor production as the two Apple suppliers push further into the market. Nidec wants Foxconn to help make automotive its largest business driver – only there’s some way to go.
Foxconn to use Nidec drives for MIH platform
The Taiwanese contract manufacturer Foxconn, who is known for working for Apple, has joined forces with Japanese electric motor manufacturer Nidec via its automotive offshoot Foxconn. The duo aims to develop electric drives for Foxconn’s MIH electric car platform, which will be unveiled in autumn.
Fisker and Foxconn are planning a new EV for 2023
Fisker has announced a large-scale electric vehicle project with the Apple contract manufacturer Hon Hai aka Foxconn. The model, which will apparently not be an ordinary electric car, will be Fisker’s second model after the Ocean electric SUV.
Foxconn presents electric car platform
Taiwanese contract manufacturer Hon Hai, aka Foxconn, who supplies Apple components, wants to make a major entry into the electric vehicle business. According to CEO Liu Young-way, Foxconn is to be represented with components or services in every tenth electric car worldwide by 2027.
