Britishvolt & UKBIC develop next-gen battery
Emerging UK battery cell manufacturer Britishvolt has signed a two-year, multi-million-pound contract with the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) to further develop and manufacture its high nickel electric vehicle sample cells for mass production.
Johnson Matthey & OnTo launch recycling cooperation
The British chemical company Johnson Matthey is cooperating with OnTo Technology, a developer of battery recycling solutions. The aim of the partnership is to further develop OnTo’s patented recycling process ‘Cathode Healing’. The focus is on battery waste that is already generated during production.
UK battery industrialisation centre opens in Coventry
The UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) has now been officially opened in the English industrial city of Coventry. The £130 million, 18,500 square metre facility is designed to support UK industry in the development of battery technologies for electrification.
JLR reveals hydrogen-powered Land Rover Defender
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is developing a fuel cell-powered prototype of the Land Rover Defender, which is due to start testing in the UK later this year. The H2 off-road vehicle is being created as part of Jaguar Land Rover’s research and development into future technologies.
