Research project Street directly solar-powers electric van
The German research project ‘Street’ has equipped an electric van with photovoltaic modules. Based on the Streetscooter WORK L by DPDHL, the demonstrator is expected to gain over 5,000 km of range in a year of operation using the extra solar power.

The announced end of production at StreetScooter has been moved “a few months” to 2021. The owner, Deutsche Post says that the extension of the StreetScooter production does not represent any change of strategy.

StreetScooter: Deutsche Post to cease electric van production
Deutsche Post/DHL has announced that they will cease the manufacturing of their StreetScooter electric vans before the end of this year. The Group’s CEO Frank Appel has given up on finding a buyer for its subsidiary, even though it looked as if a deal with China’s Chery was as good as made.

StreetScooter plans to enter US market in 2020
Deutsche Post/DHL will launch the StreetScooter Work L electric delivery van in two US cities from spring 2020. It is still unclear exactly which these are. According to CTO Ulrich Stuhec, StreetScooter’s EVs could be established on a large scale in the USA in 2022 or 2023.

The 10,000th StreetScooter joins the DHL fleet
The 10,000th StreetScooter to join the DHL parcel delivery fleet has just been presented in Cologne, Germany. Since its launch, the Post subsidiary’s electric vehicles have covered more than 100 million kilometres and saved around 36,000 tons of CO2 annually.

460 StreetScooter considered potentially flammable
Deutsche Post/DHL classified 460 units of their StreetScooter vehicles as potentially at risk of fire and withdrew them from circulation until further notice. These electric transporters will not be put back on the road until they have been inspected.

StreetScooter receives order over 500 electric vans
The Deutsche Post subsidiary StreetScooter has received yet another major order for its electric vans. German startup UZE Mobility has just bought 500 of the StreetScooter models Work and Work L and initially wants to use them in German cities as car-sharing vehicles – for free.

StreetScooter Work van approved for large-scale production
The electric van maker owned by DP/DHL has received the EC approval to serially produce its basic Work electric van. The approval for large series production also applies to other EU countries and to Switzerland and Norway so that StreetScooter may fulfil more orders coming from third parties.

DP/DHL now able to churn out 20,000 electric vans a year
StreetScooter, the electric van building subsidiary of Deutsche Post/DHL has opened its second production facility. The factory in the German town of Düren belongs to supplier Neapco and will make up to 10,000 EVs a year, answering to growing demand from third parties.
