Ferronordic, a service and distribution company in the construction equipment and truck sectors, has placed its first order for electric trucks in Germany. The order includes 21 Renault Trucks D Z.E and D Wide Z.E and eleven Volvo FL and Volvo FE Electric, making a total of 32 all-electric trucks.

Ferronordic says the chassis for the trucks are to be delivered in the first quarter of 2022 and subsequently fitted with superstructures in Germany. The vehicles should then be ready for use at the end of March 2022.

The ordered vehicles are intended as medium-duty electric trucks primarily for distribution traffic and last-mile delivery. Ferronordic will not be operating the vehicles themselves but the electric trucks will initially be used as demonstration vehicles before being sold or leased to customers.

To prepare the workshop network for electric trucks, Ferronordic will also invest in training for mechanics, charging stations and equipment for battery replacement.

Ferronordic CEO Lars Corneliusson said: “We are very excited to work with Volvo and Renault Trucks to support the distribution of electric vehicles in Germany. Promoting electromobility is a key part of our vision to be a leading service and sales company in our markets. As we make investments to service electric trucks, we also drive further utilization of our network in Germany and contribute towards electrifying the transport industry.”
