GAC Aion V charges in 8 minutes
The Chinese car manufacturer GAC plans to launch the Aion V with a graphene battery in September. In a demonstration, the car is said to have managed a charging process from zero to 80 per cent in eight minutes. GAC Aion showcased its super-fast charging technology in two versions, 3C and 6C.

Mercedes reveals production locations for EQ ramp up
Mercedes-Benz is now providing a comprehensive overview of the production sites for its electric offensive for the EQ brand. Production of the EQA at the Rastatt plant in Germany among others has already started ahead of the model’s world premiere on 20 January 2021.

Tesla planning to manufacture chargers in China
Tesla appears to be planning a production facility for chargers near its car factory in Shanghai. Over in Europe, the prices for the Model S and Model X have been increased, while in the USA the Model X and some Model Y will have to go to the workshop for a recall.

GM launches an eSUV, a PHEV and a small e-car in China
The General Motors brand Buick has launched its first all-electric SUV on the Chinese market called the Velite 7, along with the PHEV Velite 6. With its Chinese joint venture with SAIC and Wuling, GM is also offering a purely-electric ultra-small and low price electric car called the Hong Guang Mini EV.

Volkswagen births the ID.4 out of the ID. Crozz
Volkswagen has given a “concrete outlook” on a fully electric compact SUV. The model, for which the study has so far been called ID. Crozz, will be called ID.4 as a production vehicle. This is the second MEB model after the ID.3, and should be launched before the end of this year.

US market launch of Mercedes EQC delayed till 2021
Mercedes has postponed the US launch of its EQC by at least one year to 2021. The German carmaking giant says that this “strategic decision” is because it “first wants to meet the growing customer demand for the EQC in Europe”. Meanwhile, BAIC wants to double its stake in Daimler.

Tesla aiming for record number of deliveries in Q2
It seems that Tesla may be having a new record quarter in vehicle deliveries. As Elon Musk wrote in an e-mail to employees, there is a good chance that the current quarter will see 90,700 deliveries exceed the record level reached in the fourth quarter of 2018.

Buick goes electric in China, finallly
After initial delays, Buick now launched the brand’s first global all-electric vehicle, the Velite 6 MAV in China. It is also SAIC-GM’s first EV for the mass market. It features a maximum 85 kW of power, 255 Nm of torque and range of 301 km in the city.
