Dana to supply drive components for Switch
US automotive supplier Dana is partnering with Switch Mobility (formerly Optare), the UK subsidiary of India’s Ashok Leyland. Specifically, Dana is to supply electric drive components for Switch Mobility’s range of buses and commercial vehicles.
DAF Trucks presents 2nd e-Truck, the LF Electric
Dutch DAF Trucks presents the production version of its second all-electric truck model called LF Electric, which will go into production at Leyland Trucks in the UK in May 2021. The launch follows the revised CF Electric tractor shown a few months ago.
Kenworth & Dana develop electric drives for trucks
The US truck manufacturer Kenworth and the automotive supplier Dana have announced their cooperation to develop electric drives for Kenworth’s medium-heavy electric trucks. The first result of this cooperation has already been presented at CES.
USA: Hyliion buying battery unit of Gentherm
Hyliion, a maker of retrofit hybrid systems for class 8 trucks, enters the battery business. They acquire the battery arm of Gentherm with which they had been working already. For cell supply they struck a deal with Toshiba.
Hydro-Québec & Dana team up with TM4 for e-drives
Dana Inc. and Hydro-Québec have set up a joint-venture partnership in which TM4, a subsidiary of Hydro-Québec, will supply Dana with electric motor systems. In return, Dana will become a majority shareholder of TM4 for CA$165 million (US$127 million).

Dana introduces e-axles: Expanding its portfolio of power technologies and drive axles for electric and hybrid vehicles, Dana Incorporated has now introduced the company’s ‘Spicer Electrified’ portfolio of fully integrated motor, control, and e-drive technologies. Currently in production, the Spicer EV Drive for vans manages speed and torque from the e-motor to the wheels. Planned for launch in 2018, Dana’s new e-axles for electric transit buses and city delivery vehicles feature a fully integrated motor and gear box.
Schaeffler to rely on electrification: The German automotive supplier plans to invest another 500 million euros in electric mobility by 2020 to strengthen its R&D as well as production. If EVs should take off faster than expected, the sum would have to be rethought, according to CEO Klaus Rosenfeld.

Hyperloop system unveiled: Hyperloop One, the main company developing the hyperloop system envisioned by Elon Musk, has unveiled the concept for its entire system. The company also outlined its plans to bring a hyperloop network between Dubai and Abu Dhabi and other Emirates.
