BMW expands drive production in Dingolfing
The BMW Group says it has reached significant milestones in the ramp-up of e-mobility at its largest European production site in Dingolfing. A second production line for electric motors is up and running, and the production of a new generation of PHEV batteries has also started.

BMW launches battery production for iX & i4
BMW has started manufacturing the high-voltage batteries and battery modules used in the iX and i4 at the Competence Centre for E-Drive Production in Dingolfing. The capacity for the production of the electric motors at the site has also been increased.

BMW going for dedicated EV platform in strategic turn
BMW is changing its electric strategy and is now developing a dedicated electric car platform to utilise in the new plant in Hungary after 2025. The company also intends to start building a fully electric model in the city of Regensburg from 2022.

BMW is stocking up staff for electrification
At their plant in Dingolfing, Bavaria, BMW is planning to increase the number of jobs in the production of electric drive components from the current 600 to up to 2,000 employees. Also, preparations are being made for the production of the iNEXT planned for 2021.

BMW has begun preparing their manufacturing facilities for increased EV production, including electric drive systems and batteries. The upgrades and adjustments for the battery assembly for the Mini EV alone will cost a two digit figure in the millions.

BMW to supply battery modules to StreetScooter
Battery modules of the BMW i are now also getting part of the fully electrified delivery vans made by the Deutsche Post DHL. According to the German carmaker, these modules are equivalent to those used for the BMW i3.
