Nio confirms plans to release 150 kWh battery in 2022
The Chinese electric carmaker has confirmed its earlier timetables, according to which the first vehicles with the 150 kWh solid-state battery will be delivered this year. There will also be flexible upgrades for existing Nio customers via the company’s battery swap stations.
China’s NEV sales continue to rise
In China, around 357,000 New Energy Vehicles were sold in September. Battery-electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and fuel cell vehicles together accounted for a market share of 17.3 per cent. BYD continues to be the strongest brand.
Nio extends cooperation with JAC
The Chinese electric car manufacturer Nio has extended its manufacturing cooperation with the state-owned Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC) until May 2024. JAC will continue to produce the Nio electric models ES8, ES6, EC6, ET7 and possibly other future Nio models at its factory in Hefei.
Nio readies for market entry into Europe
Nio plans to deliver the first ES8s in Norway in September 2021. As the Chinese carmaker has now announced, Norway will also be the first overseas market to offer the company’s complete charging infrastructure – including battery swapping stations.
Nio launches used car service ‘Nio Certified’
Nio is launching a used car service called ‘Nio Certified’ and has set up a nationwide business network for it, offering the buying and selling of vehicles and services such as inspections and valuations. Within five years, Nio plans to invest 3 billion yuan (380 million euros) in the service.
Nio: New battery for 900km of range & European launch
According to founder William Li Bin, the Chinese electric car manufacturer Nio is currently working on a battery pack with a capacity of 150 kWh, which should enable ranges of over 900 kilometres. Besides, the plans for a European launch in 2021 may become concrete.
China’s EV market is recovering slowly
In China, 55,829 battery-electric cars and 14,370 plug-in hybrids from local production were sold in May. The sales figures for so-called New Energy Vehicles were thus 25.8 per cent lower than in the same month last year, but 19.5 per cent higher than in April 2020.
Chinese EV sales drop significantly
The electric vehicle sales of the Chinese manufacturers BYD, BAIC BJEV and Nio declined sharply in January. The main reasons for this were the few business days in January due to the comparatively early New Year holidays and the outbreak of the coronavirus.
Nio starts series production of second ES6 model
The Chinese electric car startup Nio has started series production of its second ES6 model. Both series, the ES6 and the ES8, are currently manufactured at the Nio-JAC plant in Hefei. After Nio’s plans for a factory in Shanghai were abandoned, plans are now being made for a factory in Beijing.
Nio premiers latest electric SUV ES6 in Shanghai
The Chinese electric car manufacturer Nio presents its second model. The new ES6 is an electric SUV as well, but more compact and affordable than the ES8. The ES6 will be available as a five-seater or seven-seater and in different performance versions.
