Volta Trucks presents two new electric truck models
After the Swedish electric truck start-up Volta Trucks presented its 16-tonne version of the Volta Zero in November last year, the company has now presented the second model series in its range of all-electric commercial vehicles. The 7.5- and 12-tonne models will remain closely aligned in appearance to the larger vehicle.
Volta Trucks closes funding round with €230 million
Swedish electric truck startup Volta Trucks has closed its €230 million Series C funding round. This latest capital raising will fund the company’s entire engineering and business operations until after the start of series production of the 16-tonne version of the Volta Zero at the end of 2022.
DB Schenker pre-orders 1,470 Volta trucks
The logistics service provider DB Schenker has pre-ordered almost 1,500 electric trucks from Volta Trucks. As part of the partnership, DB Schenker will use the first prototype of the Volta Zero under real distribution conditions in the spring and summer of 2022.
Volta Trucks presents production-ready Volta Zero truck
Swedish start-up Volta Trucks has unveiled the final design of its Volta Zero electric truck, specifically the 16-tonne version. The design will also be applied to the future 7.5 tons, 12 tons and 18-ton versions. Production of the first 25 prototypes in the final design is beginning.
Volta Trucks expands UK team
The Swedish electric truck start-up Volta Trucks wants to expand its research and development team in the UK to accelerate the development of the Volta Zero. The company is therefore launching a recruitment drive with the aim of employing more than 280 people by the end of 2021.
Volta Trucks begins testing its 16-ton truck
Volta Trucks has confirmed the start of engineering evaluation and development testing of the first prototype Volta Zero at Horiba Mira in Nuneaton, UK. Series production should begin in December 2022. The company will also be giving a UK customer roadshow next month.
Proterra to supply batteries for the Volta Zero
Volta Trucks has appointed Proterra as battery supplier for the Volta Zero electric truck. The Proterra batteries will help the all-electric 16-tonne truck, which is designed for inner-city freight transport, to achieve a real-world range of up to 200 kilometres.
