Audi Charging Hub to open in Zurich this year
Audi has announced new locations for its fast-charging concept Charging Hub. Based on the findings of the pilot site in Nuremberg, a pilot in Zurich is next on the list. Salzburg and Berlin are slated to become the first regular locations, with more sites to follow in Germany.
Zurich orders Siemens charging for electric buses
In Switzerland, Siemens has been awarded a contract by the Zurich Transport Authority (VBZ) for the supply, installation and commissioning of 45 Sicharge UC charging stations for electric buses. The charging infrastructure will be installed in the Hardau bus garage for 45 new electric buses.
Genesis to release three all-electric cars in Europe
Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis has announced details of its European debut this year. Sales will launch in Germany, Switzerland and Great Britain this summer, initially with combustion models. From the end of 2021, Genesis promises three pure electric cars are to follow.
Battrion installs first electrode production
Battrion, a spin-off by ETH Zurich, is developing a high-performance battery that made our news last year. The start-up now announced the opening of a small-scale production line in Switzerland able to make electrodes for 20 MWh fast-charging Li-ion battery cells a year.
Byton M-Byte pre-orders to start in EU before year’s end
Before the end of this year, Chinese manufacturer Byton will be accepting advance orders from European customers for its first electric model M-Byte – for a reservation fee of 500 euros. Byton has also revealed some details on the planned distribution and charging service.
Bicar classified as L2e, sharing test launch in autumn
The electric micro mobility solution Bicar, which emerged from a project of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), now meets road approval regulations. The new edition is classified as a L2e (light vehicle) and is on its way to market launch in 2020.
ABB gives away 30 fast-charging stations to Zurich
Infrastructure provider ABB has presented the capital of its home country Switzerland with 30 fast-charging stations. It is a gift on the occasion of ABB’s 30th anniversary. Once the chargers will be added, Zurich will have over 100 EV charging stations.
Microlino by Micro Mobility Systems debuts in Zurich
After two and a half years, Swiss Micro Mobility Systems has taken the wraps off the pilot production version of its Microlino in Zurich. The company received already more than 4,600 pre-orders for the BMW Isetta based Microlino EV. Now ‘production hell’ is waiting.
