Swiss Post goes fully electric in Zurich and Bern
Citizens in the Swiss cities of Zurich and Bern will now have their letters and parcels delivered by electric vehicle. By the end of 2024, all delivery vehicles in Geneva and Basel will also become fully electric, as well as some 50 other locations in the mountainous country.

Hess receives major e-tram order from VBZ
The Zurich Transport Authority (VBZ) is renewing its trolleybus fleet and, following an international tender, has awarded the Swiss bus manufacturer Hess a contract worth CHF 330 million (€336 million). The order volume exceeds 150 battery-electric trams.

Audi Charging Hub to open in Zurich this year
Audi has announced new locations for its fast-charging concept Charging Hub. Based on the findings of the pilot site in Nuremberg, a pilot in Zurich is next on the list. Salzburg and Berlin are slated to become the first regular locations, with more sites to follow in Germany.

Zurich orders Siemens charging for electric buses
In Switzerland, Siemens has been awarded a contract by the Zurich Transport Authority (VBZ) for the supply, installation and commissioning of 45 Sicharge UC charging stations for electric buses. The charging infrastructure will be installed in the Hardau bus garage for 45 new electric buses.

Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis has announced details of its European debut this year. Sales will launch in Germany, Switzerland and Great Britain this summer, initially with combustion models. From the end of 2021, Genesis promises three pure electric cars are to follow.

Battrion installs first electrode production
Battrion, a spin-off by ETH Zurich, is developing a high-performance battery that made our news last year. The start-up now announced the opening of a small-scale production line in Switzerland able to make electrodes for 20 MWh fast-charging Li-ion battery cells a year.

Plug’n Roll: Zurich orders up to 880 charging stations
Plug’n Roll, the e-mobility provider of the energy supplier Repower, has been commissioned by the Zurich government. They want charging infrastructure to populate the canton’s properties as the government plans to transform the fleet until 2030.

Mercedes to deliver three eCitaro G to Switzerland
Mercedes-Benz is supplying three units of the new all-electric eCitaro G articulated bus to Switzerland. They will be used by the Eurobus transport company to provide a fast connection between two university locations of the ETH in Zurich.

Byton M-Byte pre-orders to start in EU before year’s end

Bicar classified as L2e, sharing test launch in autumn

ABB gives away 30 fast-charging stations to Zurich
Infrastructure provider ABB has presented the capital of its home country Switzerland with 30 fast-charging stations. It is a gift on the occasion of ABB’s 30th anniversary. Once the chargers will be added, Zurich will have over 100 EV charging stations.
