Proton Motor & Electra to cooperate on FCEV development

Proton Motor Fuel Cell wants to develop the market for fuel cell trucks in the UK and Ireland together with the British company Electra Commercial Vehicles. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed to cover the development period.

Electra will act as a system integrator to integrate Proton Motor’s fuel cell systems into their existing electric truck portfolio. Both partners intend to work together to develop a prototype vehicle for series testing. In addition, Electra will place initial orders for five fuel cell systems from Proton Motor. Joint sales and marketing activities in the UK have also been agreed upon.

Proton Motor first gained media attention in 2019, when they presented an automated fuel cell stacking system. Since then, the company has been busy exploring different aspects of fuel cell technology through partnerships. For example, the company is taking part in an EU funded fuel cell garbage truck project, as well as cooperating with a total of 25 organizations in Europe to develop a standard for heavy fuel cell trucks.
