Britishvolt begins construction on Blyth factory
Preliminary work has begun on Britishvolt’s battery cell factory in the northern English county of Northumberland. The actual construction of the production facility is scheduled for late autumn or early winter of this year. The planning permission for the large-scale project is dated 6 July 2021.
Italvolt to set up 45 GWh cell production in Italy
The newly founded company Italvolt wants to build the first ‘gigafactory’ for electric car battery cells in Italy. An initial capacity of 45 GWh is announced, which could later be expanded to 70 GWh. However, the planned start of production, among other points were not announced.
Britishvolt & Siemens cooperate on UK battery plant
Britishvolt is getting support from Siemens for its planned battery cell factory in the UK. The collaboration will give Britishvolt access to automation and electrification solutions, as well as technology that will enable it to simulate production processes before construction work is completed.
Britishvolt & AMTE planning UK battery plant
The start-ups Britishvolt and AMTE Power have provided details of their plans to build a battery cell factory for electric cars with a capacity of 30 to 35 GWh with the support of the British Government. The first stage is set for completion by 2023.
