First look: The new e-buses for Berlin are arriving at BVG
Berlin’s public transport operator BVG has released information on the incoming new e-buses. The first of 89 Ebusco 2.2 electric buses will join the Berlin fleet this year. Once these arrive in the German capital, the BVG fleet will include 228 electric buses in active service.

Germany issues first grants to decarbonise urban bus fleets
The German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) has granted around 600 million euros in funding to procure climate-friendly buses. The largest single purchases are planned by Berlin’s operator BVG and Transdev Berlin with other large purchases in Hamburg and Cologne.

Hitachi to install depot chargers for BVG buses in Berlin
Hitachi Energy has received an order from Berlin’s public transport operator BVG to deliver charging infrastructure. Hitachi Energy will retrofit two bus depots with its Grid-eMotion Fleet system in the course of BVG’s bus electrification program.

Ebusco delivers electric buses in Germany & Denmark
In the last week, the Dutch electric bus company Ebusco delivered a total of 25 electric buses to Transdev in Frankfurt and to Nobina in Copenhagen. Another two electric buses were handed over to Stadtwerke München, while a large order has been confirmed in Berlin.

ABB equips electric trains by Stadler in Germany
ABB has become the partner of choice for Stadler Germany, a train maker currently working to deliver battery-electric trains for regional and underground trains in Schleswig Holstein and Berlin. ABB will deliver traction converters and battery system to recharge electric locomotives running through the coastal state and on the underground in the German capital.

Berlin: PSI Transcom to deliver e-bus management systems
PSI Transcom has been commissioned by the Berlin Transport Authority BVG to supply the depot and charge management system PSIebus. In the future, this system will schedule, monitor and control the electric bus fleet in the German capital.

Electric bendy buses arrive in Berlin to serve BVG
Public transport operator BVG in Berlin has taken delivery of the first articulated electric buses. A total of 17 Solaris Urbino 18 electric are now gradually taking up service on Line 200 with charging at Siemens pantographs at the terminal stops.

Solaris electric buses arrive in Berlin
The first Solaris electric bus has arrived in Berlin from an order placed in summer last year when Berlin’s public transport authority, the BVG, ordered 90 Urbino 12 electric buses. Another order of 90 vehicles is still pending.

Berlin public transport BVG orders 90 Solaris e-buses
The state of Berlin and public transit operator BVG are pushing ahead with the ramp-up phase for the procurement of electric buses and are purchasing a further 90 EVs. Polish manufacturer Solaris secured the contract and will deliver from spring 2020.

Berlin: BVG orders 15 Solaris buses

Berlin’s new ride-share to run 80% electric
The Berlin public transport operator BVG and Daimler subsidiary ViaVan have officially launched their ride-share program BerlKönig in Berlin. To start, up to 50 vehicles will operate from 5 pm until 5 am on Fridays and Saturdays. The majority of the fleet runs electric.

BVG orders 30 electric buses for Berlin
Following a lengthy tender process, Berlin transport provider BVG has made its decision. The board approved the acquisition of 30 electric buses that are to arrive next year. Details on the manufacturer have not been disclosed but Daimler is a good guess although Solaris may be an option too.
