Canoo plans to buy vehicle factory in Oklahoma
The eMobility start-up Canoo has announced that it will buy a vehicle production facility in Oklahoma City. Canoo plans to produce its Lifestyle Vehicle (LV) and its cargo variant Lifestyle Delivery Vehicle (LDV) at the plant, which are to be delivered to customers from 2023.

Canoo to build battery plant in Oklahoma
Canoo announced plans for a battery module manufacturing facility in the US state of Oklahoma. The plant will be fully operational, producing modules from Panasonic battery cells with a total annual capacity of 3.2 GWh. Construction is scheduled to begin before the end of the year.

Canoo confirms major order from Kingbee in the USA
Canoo has received a binding order for 9,300 electric vans from US vehicle rental company Kingbee. The agreement includes the option to double the order to 18,600 electric vehicles, and is the third deal Canoo has announced in around three months.

Zeeba orders 5,450 Canoo vehicles in California
Californian startup Canoo has received another large order for its electric vehicles. Fleet leasing provider Zeeba has signed an agreement to buy 5,450 Canoo electric vehicles, with an initial binding commitment of 3,000 units by 2024.

Canoo vans in action for Walmart for the first time (video)
The EV start-up Canoo and its main client Walmart launched real-world deliveries in a 7-days-a-week program in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex (DFW). Canoo will finalise configuring the all-electric vans according to Walmart’s requirements following their significant order.

US car subscription service Autonomy orders 22,790 BEVs
The US electric car subscription service Autonomy has ordered 22,790 electric cars worth around 1.2 billion dollars. The provider, which until now has specialised mainly in Tesla models, has ordered a total of 45 different vehicle models from 17 carmakers – including Tesla again.

Mini rumoured to be considering cooperation with Canoo
According to a media report, Canoo could produce the electric Mini Urbanaut concept in series in the USA from 2025. Mini is looking for a technical basis and a production site. If found, the series Urbanaut could complement the Mini range as an electric van. But question marks remain.

Walmart orders 4,500 electric transporters from Canoo
The Californian electric car start-up Canoo has announced a large order from Walmart. The US retail giant has signed a binding agreement with Canoo to buy 4,500 all-electric delivery vehicles, starting with the Lifestyle Delivery Vehicle (LDV), a cargo variant of the Canoo Lifestyle Vehicle.

Canoo faces dire financial straits
The Californian electric car start-up Canoo is in financial difficulties that threaten its existence. The company has reported a loss of around US$125 million (€118.4 million) for the first quarter of 2022 and warns in its quarterly report “that there is significant doubt about the company’s ability to continue as a going concern”.

Netherlands makes case for European Rivian factory
Rumours about a European plant of the US electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian have been circulating for some time. While a production plant near Bristol in England was previously considered the favourite, the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs has now confirmed that talks are being held with Rivian about a very specific location in the country.

Canoo moves up production launch to 2022
Canoo is moving up the planned US production start in Oklahoma. Instead of 2023, production is to begin before the fourth quarter of 2022. In Europe, Canoo plans to have its debut model built at the Dutch production plant VDL NedCar as early as 2022.

Panasonic presents prototype 4680 cells
Panasonic has presented a prototype of its 4680 cell for Tesla. Test production of the cells is scheduled to begin in Japan in March 2022. It is not yet clear when series production will begin. To date, Panasonic is the only known supplier commissioned by Tesla to build the 4680 cells.
