Oregon researchers work with Daimler on H2 fuel cell trucks
In the USA, researchers at Oregon State University are working with Daimler Truck North America to develop a hydrogen fuel cell-powered heavy-duty truck for regional and long-distance transport. Developed as part of Daimler’s “SuperTruck” project, the tractor is expected to provide ranges of 600 miles (965 kilometres).

California approves $2.9 billion for ZEV infrastructure
The California Energy Commission (CEC) has approved a 2.9 billion US dollar investment plan, primarily to expand infrastructure for zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) in the state. The majority of the budget is to flow into charging points for electric utility vehicles.

FreezPak expands H2 fuel cell contract with Plug Power
In the USA, hydrogen fuel cell specialist Plug Power has won a major follow-on contract from food logistics company FreezPak Logistics. Plug Power will provide fuel cells and hydrogen storage and refuelling infrastructure for nine additional locations and nearly 400 forklifts.

Stadler orders Ballard H2 fuel cell systems for US trains
Ballard Power Systems has received an order from Stadler Rail to supply six 100 kW Fcmove-HD+ fuel cell modules to power the first hydrogen train in the US. The train is expected to enter service in San Bernardino, California, in 2024 and will seat over 100 passengers.

At the IAA Transportation this year, the conversion expert plans to present a “Plug & Drive” H2 storage system suitable for heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
