California funds Hyundai XCIENT fuel cell truck projects
Hyundai is bringing its XCIENT fuel cell truck to the USA for the first time through two government-funded projects in California. The incoming 32 demo trucks are based on XCIENT Fuel Cell with technical modifications with Hyundai specifying a range of 500 miles (800 km).
Hyundai is updating the XCIENT fuel cell truck
Hyundai has revised the appearance and technology of its XCIENT fuel cell truck. Besides a design update for the front, the 2021 version of the XCIENT comes with a revised powertrain that now combines a 350 kW electric motor with two 90 kW fuel cell stacks.
Hyundai to supply 4,000 fuel cell trucks to China
Hyundai has signed two letters of intent with Chinese companies to supply a total of 4,000 fuel cell trucks to China by 2025. This is the second major order in connection with Hyundai’s H2 truck XCIENT, following the order for 1,600 units from Switzerland.
Hyundai to bring H2 trucks to US markets in 2022
Hyundai has announced plans to sell hydrogen fuel cell-powered trucks in the United States by 2022. The Korean company has confirmed its focus on H2 fuel cell for commercial vehicles, aiming to increase global FCEV sales yearly to 500,000 units in 2030.
Hyundai delivers the first H2 trucks in Switzerland
Hyundai has now delivered the first ten units of its fuel cell truck XCIENT to Switzerland. A further 40 are to follow this year, and a total of 1,600 of the H2 trucks are planned for the Swiss market by 2025. Hyundai is also working on an H2 tractor with a 1000-km range.
Hyundai rushes to electrify commercial vehicles
Hyundai wants to speed up the electrification of its commercial vehicle segment. Both the van Porter as well as the small truck Mighty will get an electric option as soon as next year with Hyundai to adapt technology from the Kona EV.
