Renault presents complete electric truck range
Renault Trucks unveils two electric trucks to launch in 2019. The Renault Trucks D Z.E. and Renault Trucks D Wide Z.E. cover 16 and 26 tons respectively and complete the electric UV lineup starting with the Master Z.E. at 3.5 tons. The trucks will be made in Normandy, France.

Sweden: Alelion supplying heavy-duty EV batteries
Swedish Alelion has been selected to supply batteries for Germany’s KAMAG Transporttechnik who wants to electrify one of their heavy-duty truck models. The order is worth 1.4M euros and part of a joint development project starting this year.

Hydro-Québec & Dana team up with TM4 for e-drives
Dana Inc. and Hydro-Québec have set up a joint-venture partnership in which TM4, a subsidiary of Hydro-Québec, will supply Dana with electric motor systems. In return, Dana will become a majority shareholder of TM4 for CA$165 million (US$127 million).

eHighway pilot under construction on the Autobahn
Works have started on one of three eHighway projects in Germany. Led by Siemens, the track along the A1 motorway will enable hybrid trucks to charge while in motion via overhead wire. The pilot set to start in mid-2019 will receive power from renewable energy sources.

Solaris readies fuel cell electric bus for 2019
Poland’s prolific busmaker Solaris will present their first hydrogen bus next year. The fuel cell electric vehicle is based on their Urbino series but with a longer range of up to 350 km on one fill. A traction battery is to support the bus at peak times.

DP/DHL to build StreetScooter vans for 2 more years
The StreetScooter saga at Deutsche Post continues after the former leader Jürgen Gerdes got laid off last week. Head of the board, Frank Appel now gave an outlook for the electric van making business, saying DP/DHL would consider selling the production.

Will VW release an electric T7 in 2020?
In the coming year, the next generation of the VW T7 bus will be introduced. Currently, the Wolfsburgers are testing several vehicle variants under the chassis of the current generation. It may happen, that the T7 will be introduced as a BEV in the second half of 2020.

The Finnish arm of Danish Danfoss has joined Paus Maschinenfabrik from Germany in their drive to electrify mine vehicles. The first fruit of their cooperation is the MinCa 5.1 that has gone serial and is available as either hybrid or all-electric vehicle.

Toyota & Seven-Eleven launching fuel cell project
The basic agreement to use hydrogen and fuel cell transport to power convenience stores in Japan more sustainable had been made already last year. Now Toyota and Seven-Eleven agreed on a more detailed plan and schedule to launch fuel cell trucks and renewable energy storage systems.

BYD and their JV partner Goldstone Infratech in India have revealed their first joint product, an electric minibus. The ‘eBuzz K6’ has been presented in Delhi and can carry 18 passengers over a range of 200 kilometres on one charge.

Nissan starts delivery of new e-NV200
Nissan has begun the delivery of its Barcelona-made e-NV200 with an increased battery capacity by 40 kW. Since the market launch in January, more than 4,000 orders have been accepted for the new e-NV200, according to Nissan.

British Terberg RosRoca presents their all-electric dump truck at the IFAT in Munich. Their eCollect features a 200 kW electric motor powered by a 300 kWh battery. Production is to start by the end of 2019 with models for both right and left hand drive.

Dutch DAF has turned to VDL as they want to electrify their truck business. VDL delivers the EV system including a 170 kWh battery and the electric semi is to haul up to 40 tons through cities. A small number of e-trucks will take up service at selected clients this year.

Irizar to make electric utility vehicles in Spain
It is Europe’s first “emobility plant” said Irizar at the inauguration of their new facility in Aduna, Spain. On a floor area of 18,000 sqm they want to build electric buses and other commercial vehicles en masse in order to keep up with demand.
