Long range Li-ion battery for eCUV by Tropos Motors

Tropos Motors has released a new battery pack for electric compact utility vehicles (eCUV) and claims it holds three times more range than power packs of competitors. The ABLE XR comes with a 26 kWh battery good for about 250 km. Launch is set in Q4/2018.

Solaris to premier lightweight hybrid bus in Poland

Busmaker Solaris of Poland is planning to launch a whole new hybrid bus at the TRANSEXPO in Kielce this October. The Solaris Urbino 12 LE lite hybrid is said to consume less than 30 litres of fuel per 100 km. The bus weighs under nine tons before taking up to 85 passengers.

Nikola Motor raises $100M for fuel cell trucks in a week

Nikola Motor says they raised over 100 million dollars in just one week. The current round of funding for $200 million is ongoing and will be oversubscribed, says CEO Trevor Milton, if the trend continues. The money is to help Nikola launch and scale its two fuel cell trucks in 2020.

USA: BYD form $500M JV to lease electric buses

China’s BYD has formed a joint venture with the San Francisco investor Generate Capital. The 200 million dollar JV will lease BYD electric buses to cities, schools and corporations in the States. The partners consider their business an “all-around win”.

Mercedes-Benz premiers eCitaro electric bus (video)

Finally, Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps of its all-electric bus, the eCitaro. At the world premiere in Germany, the firm said battery-electric vehicles mark only the start of a large family of zero emission buses. Next generations with fuel cells and solid-state batteries are to allow for ranges hitherto unthinkable in the bus business.

Dana Inc. and Hydro-Québec have set up a joint-venture partnership in which TM4, a subsidiary of Hydro-Québec, will supply Dana with electric motor systems. In return, Dana will become a majority shareholder of TM4 for CA$165 million (US$127 million).

eHighway pilot under construction on the Autobahn

Works have started on one of three eHighway projects in Germany. Led by Siemens, the track along the A1 motorway will enable hybrid trucks to charge while in motion via overhead wire. The pilot set to start in mid-2019 will receive power from renewable energy sources.
