Netherlands: Kia and Plugsurfing charging cooperation
In the Netherlands, Kia is offering a new charging service to the buyers of their electric cars and plug-in hybrids. In cooperation with Plugsurfing, customers will have access to more than 47,500 charging stations in the Netherlands and more than 110,000 charging stations throughout Europe.
Kia launches Niro electric car in the USA
The Kia Niro EV has finally gone on sale in the U.S. The South Korean electric car manufacturer already started selling the Niro in their home country in June of last year. The base price for the Niro EV EX is $39,495 ($31,995 with federal tax credit).
Kia considers EV production in Europe
Kia is reportedly considering producing their own electric cars in Europe to reduce delivery times. European customers have been facing delivery delays and have to cope with a waiting period of more than a year for the e-Niro for example.
Deliveries of Kia e-Niro delayed due to shortages
Buyers of the Kia Niro EV in Europe must be patient as they are currently looking at delivery times of over a year. Thus states a letter to dealers in which Kia explains that “Europe-wide demand clearly exceeds expectations and current battery production capacity”.
Hyundai considers car sharing service
Hyundai is considering introducing its own car sharing business for its electric cars. For the use of an EV in a Hyundai fleet, users would pay tariffs according to the distance travelled, time in use, or energy consumption.
Kia & Hyundai must adjust range of their Europe EVs
Both Kia and Hyundai had to correct the WLTP range of their all-electric cars in Europe following faulty test results of an external testing organisation. The Kia E-Niro and Hyundai Kona Electric thus both “lose” about 30 km each in the new rating.

Europe: Kia confirms e-Niro range as close to 500 km
Kia has received the official WLTP range data for the European version of the all-electric Niro, which will be called e-Niro. The crossover electric car will make its first apearance on the continent at the Paris Motor Show and hit the market shortly after.
