Geely, Via Motors to make electric truck (REx)
Geely’s New Energy Vehicle subsidiary is joining forces with VIA Motors to develop a medium-duty electric truck with Volvo range extender. Software and systems control will come from Via and the e-truck is to launch in China and the Americas by 2019.
Volvo Trucks plans to launch electric truck in 2019
The company says that it wants to kick off sales of its upcoming electric-powered utility vehicle next year in Europe. Initially, the model shall be deployed in the good transport industry in metropolitan areas. A selection of clients will put first units into operation before the year’s end.
Nissan to launch electric bus with Leaf technology
Japan will see the start of an electric bus project that will utilise technology of the Nissan Leaf. Headed by Kumamoto University testing of the Yoka ECO Bus is to commence this February. The bus comes with three electric drives, batteries as well as the inverter of Nissan’s bestselling EV.
Toyota creates future concept e-Palette and alliance
With its versatile concept e-Palette put on display at CES, Toyota is giving an idea of its vision of future mobility. The adaptable vehicle – of course all-electric and autonomous – can be transformed into a lot of different vehicle types. An alliance shall help to develop the vehicle.
Geely acquires shares in AB Volvo
After taking over Swedish carmaker Volvo 2010, the Chinese Geely group is now also owning parts of the separately operating truck specialist AB Volvo. Geely replaces investor Cevian Capital and thus acquires shares worth 2,8bn euros.
FAW Jiefang is bulding Electric Trucks
The Chinese truck manufacturer FAW Jiefang Automotive has opened their first factory for the production of electric trucks. In the new factory in Qingdao 50, 000 trucks are scheduled to be produced annually.
BYD plans EV Factory in Morocco
The Chinese vehicle Manufacturer BYD has signed an agreement with the Moroccan government to construct a factory in the north African nation. In the production site near Tangiers BYD plans to engage 2,500 employees to construct passenger vehicles, buses and trucks with electric engines, as well as produce a range of batteries.
Irizar and Ferrostaal sign sales partnership for D-A-CH
The Spanish manufacturer has chosen Hamburg-based Ferrostaal Equipment Solutions to take care of its electric bus and charging infrastructure business in terms of sales, project management and after sales. Their deal involves the D-A-CH region, namely Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
