Volvo C40 Recharge to launch in the US this year
Volvo Cars has opened the order books online for the C40 Recharge at an MSRP of $58,750 in the United States before tax credits. Vehicle production will begin in Ghent, Belgium, this autumn, with the first US deliveries being set for Q4 2021.
Volvo to become all-electric carmaker in 2030
Volvo Cars will become an all-electric car manufacturer from 2030. In 2018, Volvo had set itself the goal of achieving half of its sales with purely electric cars by 2025. To this end, there is another change: Volvo wants to sell electric cars only via online direct sales.
Volvo targets 60% EV production in Ghent by 2022
Volvo Cars is tripling the production capacity for electric cars at its plant in Ghent, Belgium. By 2022, electric cars are to account for around 60 per cent of total production capacity there. Among other things, a purely electric version and the PHEV versions of the Volvo XC40 have been produced in Ghent so far.
Volvo launches battery assembly in Ghent
Volvo Cars has inaugurated a battery assembly line at its Belgian production site in Ghent. Batteries for the XC40 Recharge P8 will start rolling off assembly lines at the Ghent plant from March, while the production of the first electric Volvo is also scheduled to start in Ghent in the autumn.
