Volvo & Polestar to charge into Australia in 2020
The notoriously underserved electric car market in Australia can look ahead to a better 2020. Volvo and Polestar are planning to bring two electric cars and a PHEV to the continent in 2020. Besides, Mini is readying the all-electric Cooper for entry as well.
Volvo XC40 Electric to be profitable “from day one”
Volvo is preparing for the launch of the electrified XC40 series and has narrowed down on price. The all-electric XC40 will cost about 50,000 dollars according to Volvo CEO Håkan Samuelsson. He also affirmed Volvo’s intention to be profitable “from day one” at a media event.
Volvo presents brand new S60 with two PHEV options
Volvo has taken the wraps off the long expected S60 series that marks the end of diesel or better, the beginning of the electrified era at the Swedish carmaker as the S60 comes in two plug-in hybrid variants. And it is another first as the car is made entirely in Volvo’s new U.S. factory.
Volvo reasserts plans for an electric XC40
Volvo has announced that next to their plug-in-hybrid, they will also be releasing a fully electric version of their XC40. The manufacturer said this in sort of a side note in their press release regarding the new motors for their compact SUV.
Volvo to create at least two different battery options
Volvo plans two battery options for electric-powered versions of its upcoming vehicles based on the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform. That is at least, what development manager Henrik Green has just stated – however, without naming battery capacity figures.
